GARLIC DILL PICKLES
Our pickling cucumbers come from Michigan farms and farm markets.
Using a hot water bath canning process, the pickling brine is made with kosher salt, vinegar and City of Dearborn water. We pickle the cucumbers using fresh dill, garlic and mustard seed. These simple 7 ingredients make the perfect pickle every time.
Many years ago, several sisters would get together and can food for their families. One kitchen made tomatoes and pasta sauce, the other pickles, peaches and apple sauce. The tradition was the same: Sit around the table, listen to Dick Purtan on the radio, dial into his show and have him announce on the air what each sister was doing, and then they would call each other to laugh, gossip and brag about their quarts.
These sisters continue the tradition with their daughters and extended families. It is a summer rite of passage.
Every summer, we look forward to our garlic dill pickles. Not only do we take pride in crafting in this traditional food preservation process, but we love sitting around the kitchen table and canning together.
We are in the process of making this a business. Our friends and extended family often say "these are the BEST Pickles!" and "We are willing to pay for them." Hence, the Pickle Sisters! Enjoy.
To warm hearts and make mouths pucker from our kitchen table to yours.
Our inspiration draws from the love of family and the canning tradition created by Ball, Kerr, and Mason. These quality products are never substituted.
We love knowing that handmade, healthy food with no additives or preservatives are created to feed our friends and family.
"We use beach towels on the living room floor to allow our art to cool for 24 hours post-canning process.
This hard work is a beautiful sight."
Before a cucumber can become a pickle, each has to be inspected and scrubbed by hand.
